Because of the pulley and cable design, compound bows provide better accuracy and faster speeds than standard bows. All archery compound bows have similarities and differences that need to be researched before you make a purchase. If you like to have the newest and latest extras, look at the models that come equipped with silencers and vibration- destroying mechanisms. Quick As Lightning. Faster does not always mean better, but speed does matter. With a fast bow, you get a more direct trajectory compared to the downward arch you see on slower bows. The downside to speed is that the units are typically harder to handle. What's more, speed only needs to be a consideration if hunting from long distances. Those that prefer to target shoot or hunting game from shorter distances don't necessarily need a faster bow. Know Your Mechanism. The pulley mechanism on an archery compound bow is called the cam. It's the part that makes drawing the bow easier. Since these types of systems can be hard to understand and maintain, a single cam bow is recommended for beginners. Double cams require more skill to operate because there are two pulleys that need to work in sync. Draw Weight vs. Draw Length. Draw weight is the amount of force it takes to draw the bow back while draw length is how far you can pull the arrow back. When more force is applied the arrow flys quicker and stronger, but if an archer is struggling to hold the draw, then the shot will be inaccurate. To find your draw weight, pull back and hold for at least 2. The weight at which you can hold and not shake the bow is your draw weight. To find your draw length, you need to measure the length of your arm from hand to mouth. Bow Length vs. Bow Weight. An important element that determines the accuracy and speed of shots is the size of the bow. Larger, heavier bows might be more stable, but they tend to be tedious to lug around, especially if you plan on carrying it far distances. For most people, a medium- sized product is a good compromise. Since a small- sized unit is less accurate, it is usually only used by experts with a lot of experience. Brute Force! At a mass weight of 3. Brute Force. The Brute Force.
